teeny weeny jQuery rant

grrr try searching for a javascript related question in google these days without getting a page full of jQuery related results, its giving me the .. err you know whats.

I don't have an issue with frameworks or jQuery as such (though to me it looks like learning a whole new language) but if I want a simple(enough) answer to a simple enough javascript question ... it ain't simple to find it anymore :)

I was about to post a question on getting a variable returned from an ajax call stored in another variable since searching was getting nothing but jQuery results .. anyway, I found something in some old code (I heart `grep -r`) but thought I would have a rant anyway :)

That's the trap a lot of newbies fall into - thinking that jquery is a different language to javascript when it is not.
