View Full Version : Bulk Find and Delete Superfluous Font Tags

I have an HTML website done years ago in DreamWeaver MX. At the time, being a newbie, I used font tags in Design View rather than CSS. There are dozens on each page. I eventually updated to CS3 and CSS.

However, the pre-existing font tags appear to be conflicting with each other when I try to make additions in Design View. IOW I am unable to select the font style I want in the diaglog box and have it apply. It reverts to some other style and size, with a logic that has elluded me so far.

I tried to attach a proven CSS to a page of the above site, but it seems to be over-ridden by the plethoria of old font tags.

So ... rather than rebuild the entire website, I would like to remove these hundreds of font tags so the CSS will function properly. What is the most effective way to do this, without having to delete each tag individually in Code View?

For example, is there some way I search for "<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">", select all, and delete in one go.

Thank you for any advice.

This will be very general because I've never done anything like that but if it were me I'd:
See if I could export all the files out of your design program and use raw text files. Then find a text utility that can perform a batch search and destroy. Then add them back into your design program.
