View Full Version : Using javascript with flash

I have a very simple javascript

window.open "test.htm", "_blank", "width=750,height=520,top=0,left=0,scrollbars=NO,menubar=NO,toolbar=NO")

that I can call from an onClick.

However, I would like a button in a flash file to do the same thing. I have a bit of experience with flash but none with ActionScript. Is it possible to get a button in flash to do this, using actionscript or is there a way to call the javascript. Any help would be great.

Ive got something a step further...

Im building a site that will have a flash calendar on the index page. I need to be able to click on a date on that calendar and have it load an html file into an iframe on the events page of the site...

Do I need to build some sort of JS file to be able to communicate between the two? I know how to chat with an iframe housed on the same page, but not on a different page...

Any ideas would be appreciated...

Oh man, check out this thread about External Interface in Flash, that will help you mediate between Flash and JS. You'll probably have to ask in the JS forum about how to mediate between the frames, I'm not that good with JS.
