How do you change what Ie uses as its media player... after installing quick time, quick time made it so ie uses quicktime plugin to play mp3's and mpegs, etc... but all it does is display the quicktime symbol in the middle of the page and do nothing. I want to change it back to windows media player, I dont even like quicktime- so i dont want to get the quicktime pluginthing working i just want windows medea player back. I find that so anoying how when u install programs like that how it changes stuff like that..
ps, thogh I dont think it would matter, its IE 6.0, with win xp

Here is a good lesson for you on why it is very important to choose Custom setup when installing any program, rather than Typical or whatever they wanna throw at you. This option can be de-selected during setup of QuickTime.
Now that I've done my little preachy thing, here's some idea of how to turn it off.
The following applies to QuickTime 6 on Win98, so some bits may be different, but the general idea is the same, I'm sure.
Open QuickTime.
Click Edit | Preferences
Use the drop-down box to find Browser Plug-in
Click the MIME Settings button
Uncheck everything you don't want to use QuickTime for.
OK, Exit, you're done.
IE will automatically (one would hope) default to its own player. (You may have to shut down and restart IE first.)

well usually I do do that, but I must have been in a rush or something and not have done that... I did figure that out earlier, but it didnt seem to work when using preferences from the quick time logo in the browser, but I retried that using it from quick time itself and it did work. also I noticed just unexing the box that is part of a catagory that expands, doesnt always uncheck all thats in the sub catagories.
