View Full Version : Interactivity, User-selectable options to a result - Where to start??

I need some advice on how best to implement an online tool which I have been asked to produce.

It's for a tourism website. They want users to be able to (on a single page) choose from various options (such as accommodation budget per night, relaxing or active, high-end or backpacking etc etc etc) then be given one or two suggested packages which meet their request.

The whole interface should be interactive, so the user can drag and drop various keywords (representing their chosen options) into a list, sort them by priority and then get a result. It needs to be graphical with a strong design influence; show thumbnail images and short descriptions linked to the keywords, large background images related to their choices, perhaps short videos of activities.....

That sort of thing.....

My first thought was creating a flash-based app, but with HTML5, that would seem to be a better option?

The other issue is that (of course), they want it on the cheap. With that in mind, does anyone know of any templates/themes/languages which offer something along the lines of what they're looking for? Something which will give me a good head start, thereby reducing their cost??

Any advice/tips will be gratefully received!!

Thanks and happy Easter!
