I'd go for PHP - it's powerful, platform independent, and it's free

Call me weird, but I've noticed that your acronym "SSL" is also the acronym for "Secure Socket Layer". Just something I noticed... :D

Personally, I like SSI.

I just decided to take the next step and started learning asp, I'm finding easy and powerful enough for my current requirements.
I'm also going to learn php after I'm done learning asp which I expect to be accomplished in about 2 weeks.

I suggest that you should start learning asp as it is not extremely complicated. :D

My vote is ASP especially if you are already familiar with VB Script.

Yes I forgot that you stated you knew a bit of VB script. ASP's default language is VB script so you find it easy.:D

My vote would definitely go for PHP  ! Have a look around our PHP (http://www.codingforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=6) forum. For example, this thread (http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2541). The capabilities are quite amazing, it's free, and relatively easy to learn ;).

turn away from the dark side ye sinners & see the light (http://www.php.net)

+ apart from salvation, you also get the webs fastest growing (over 9 million domains) x-platform scripting language which can handle pretty much anything you can chuck at it.

i have not learned it yet, but, my suggestion is PHP, reasons?

http://php.weblogs.com/php_asp_7_reasons
http://php.weblogs.com/php_vs_asp

both pretty well written articles.

thats my reason, and im stickin to it...

btw... i was watchin some tech show with some MS guy teachin ASP or .NET... and im like... yeh heh, ok maybe when i get bored after learning PHP (HAHAHA right.)

note: if you decide to learn PHP, take into consideration MySQL.

i would go for PHP: Hypertext Procesor... and not just because its acronym is a never ending circle of oddness.

seriously... i've not used PHP for much more than many-pages-on-one-page kinda stuff... but what its so much easier than all the others...

happy coding
