Can some one tell me if there is a listing some where that tells me what all the ports are used for on a computer. I have a firewall (Zone alarm) that gives me allerts when someone is trying to open a port on my computer and it stops it. I am just wondering what these ports are and if there is anything to worry about.

Doesn't ZA have a button somewhere where it says something in line with "read more on this attack" ?
I used to use ZA before, now I use a hardware firewall, but as I remember it there is that kind of button, somewhere.
If you can't find it, and don't get any replies here, you could try a google (http:///www.google.com)-search.

It depends on the program.
Web traffic is on 80, 443 for SSL (HTTPS) connections, 21 for FTP.
Games usually connect using a port in the >10000 range.
There are other services use other ports too.

Thanks for the info. I found a site at http://www.ec11.dial.pipex.com/port-num.shtml that gave me a list of many of the ports numbers and what they were used for.

just as an aside, computer ports are NOT written in stone.
Someone could run SMTP on port 65000 if they wanted to, or
HTTP (80) on port 15
That isn't to say that you *SHOULD* do that, but remember that just because an app tries to connect on a certain port, doesn't necessarily mean it is looking for the *usual* application.
