Female gamers outnumber male gamers?

Yeah right. I'm having a hard time believing this one

its an age factor...not a entire ratio factor.....

female, age = +18 --> 26 %
male, age = +18 --> 38 %

female, age = -18 --> 12 %
male, age = -18 --> 21 %

Their Conclusion:
Female gamers outnumber boys

==> females are probably the whole group (38 %) and boys are men inder 18 or so (21 %).

Quite innovative statistical research !

Hmm. Just like guns are the biggest murderers ?

i uses statistical analysis and data-analysis quite frequently, and it's the misuse of it that often gives it that bad reputation ('you've got lies, big lies and statistics' and all that stuff).
what astonishing is how easy people accept the most rediculous 'statistical' conclusions + that in about 80 % of all scientific publications, there was in incorrect use of statistics and data-modeling ...

my economy teacher taught me that :D

most statistics you hear on the rado, tv, internet, are some way biased i find. just like anything anyone says :p

First off, didn't you know that 98.5938024% of all statistics are made up?:rolleyes:

But seriously, maybe the ...female, age = +18 --> 26 % whole thing meant 26% of all girls over the age of 18. Then who is to say that there are equal number of girls and boys over the age of 18? Someone should find a valid statistic for that # too, and then we will see the info provided about gamers holds any truth.

Is this the proportion of the population (gamers) that belongs to the group (female 18+), or is it the proportion of the population (females 18+) that belong to the group (gamers)?

(Besides, the title of the article says female gamers outnumbers boys, not female gamers outnumber males...)

They use a technicallity to make the story more appealable. And it worked, just look at everyone talking about it. That's basically what they wanted. They got more traffic to their site because of it.
