View Full Version : put Excel (macro) application on web with php

I am a very inexperienced web developer, and have some but very limited knowledge of php which is why im posting here.

I have a complex Microsoft excel workbook that has multiple sheets, a user inputs a lot of data on some sheets and the data is put through different calculations and the results come out in the other sheets. effectively this is an excel application that a company uses its own calculations to measure materials used then predict cost and profits.

My question is could PHP or any web developing language be used to create a similar application for use in a web browser?

Thanks in advance:) any help would be much appreciated

Sure it can ... as long as you know all of the calculations and formulas.

The advantage of using PHP/MySQL is that you can let the users save
their profile (data and calculations) online, to be retrieved later, or you
can have various "recipes" that contain previously calculated profiles.
Also, things can be done anywhere with a smartphone, ipad, iphone, etc.

The problem you might have asking us for help is the calculations ...
they may be proprietary. Don't post any information without permission.
