Styling Login / Contact Form

I'm trying to work out how to style a Login / Contact form with CSS.

Is there any resources out there that actually run through styling a form? I've seen some but most are for HTML 5 / CSS 3.

I've found this http://www.queness.com/resources/html/modal/jquery-modal-window.html which is basically what I want. A popup jQuery form when a link is pressed, but styling the form is what I'm trying to do.
