View Full Version : Updating One Code, Updates two pages.

Hi, I am hoping you can help me half my work. I have a Whats On Guide page on my site and I have an abbreviated version, shows the top 3 events on the home page.
Is there a way I can update the main Whats On Guide page and it will update the one on the home page.
Link to the guide is www.montrosefansforum.net/whatson and the home page is www.montrosefansforum.net and the guide is at the bottom.
Apologies if this should be in the html section and thanks in advance for any help.

It looks like you're using a phpBB script for your site.
Can you describe how you're adding the items on your "whats on guide" page?
However those are showing up (with the template), you'll add the same scripting
to your home page (add it to that template).

Hi, it is on phpBB. Currently I am just changing the code on both templates manually. I was just looking for a shortcut so I didn't have to replicate my work.

How about this idea ...
In your forum, you have a category called "what's on guide and newsletter submissions".
Create another category that is just for the actual "what's on" events.
Make a new post for each event, and put the "book now" link in the text of the post.
You'll notice when viewing your forum categories, the little orange RSS feed link.
You can use that RSS feed (XML file) to automatically create the lines on your
"what's now" page, and on your "home page". The more info will link to the post
in your forum, and the book now will be created by the link you put within your post.
Once you get a category made, and you post some events, let me know.
We can then write the PHP script to grab those from your forum and use them
on the other pages.
That is .. if this idea seems like a good idea to you.
