which is a better programming language

I am wondering which is a better (meaning have good scope) computer language to learn? Is ASP or JAVA better? Becasue I do html, javascript, xsl, xml. Long ago (about 3 years ago) I did some ASP and Cold Fusion for about 7 months. Now I am thinking about going back to one of these programming language.

Better is relative, after a programmer has learned their first few languages they should be able to pickup additional languages very easily so what you really need to aks yourself is which of these languages do you see yourself needing to know soonest?

If you can answer that one, then you can answer your main question. If you don't currently see any future direction then the question is which of those tools do you have most readily at hand in order to learn with?
