CSS Slide Show

I have this image of a stage and I have removed the background area on the stage to the stage area is transparent.

Is there anyway to make a CSS / JS ? Slide Show or Image Fade in/out so the images look like they are on the stage behind the curtains?

I know I can do it with flash, But I am really trying to avoid using flash...
