Script breaks when performed twice

I have jQuery script written on my page to create a fade-effect when an image is hovered. See the large, kitchen image in the middle of the screen to see this effect in action. This is done on images with the "fade" class and styled with the second image as its background image.

My problem is when I apply the "fade" class to another image, the background image does not appear on a rollover. See the bottom left corner image, when you rollover it goes away. Can someone explain why?

from what I can tell it's just an image path path problem. Your script calls this image on mouseover:
http://acq.matthewboehler.com/images/contact_on.png

but it does not exist. putting that filename into the address bar of firefox, though, it tells me that this one does exist (how very helpful!):
