Ojay well im currently programming a program in VB and im stuck on something i want to make a description about what a button does and i want it to be on the right side of the program. now i want it to appear when the user hovers over a button and disappear when he/she moves to a different button and i want it to also disappear when they are not hovering over a button. (Note: this means i can not simply use the tooltip as thats not what im asking for.

Edit: is it possible to make it when the user closes the program to have a msgbox appear and say please check back at "url here" for any possible new updates. or what ever would be best for this if its possible.

What is the reason for not wanting to use the tooltip?

What is the reason for not wanting to use the tooltip?i want it to be displayed something like this

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-M52SclZz7mw/TwTEHuZlhjI/AAAAAAAAAdM/Gf2GlQrsuAk/s578/image.png

as i do not want it to be located above the button itself which is why i want it like the image. Note: i added in the text through an image editing software.

I'm sure its possible as ive seen many programs have the description like i want.

I was going to recommend using the status bar for displaying the text but since you are dedicating space on the GUI for this and it seems to be alot of text then that should be pretty simple to do. What are you having trouble with?

What are you having trouble with?well mostly everything to be honest since i just started coding in VB yesterday and not really too sure about what object in the toolbox i should use and the code to show/hide the content depending on the cursors location. so basically the whole entire description part.

Well I really don't have time to write a bunch of code for this but I should be able to point you in the general direction. You will want to set up a label where you want the text then write a routine to update the text in that label based on either predefined strings of text in your routine or pass the string in as a parameter. Then you would activate this from each button using probably onfocus and oblur to call that routine.

Wow that really just confused me like a lot sorry. but it'd be easier for me to understand it in a written code.

Google search "VB dynamically update label text" should give you plenty of results with example code.
