k my audigy 2 sound card keeps crashing my pc with a high pitched noise at random points although if a hi detailed music file is being played or like a dvd with surround it will crash in a matter of minutes but if i played an old game like Half-life -counter-stike then it will be a matter of hours
does it have to do with something about the Sound card haveing a low latency ??? or like not enough power
If someone can shed some light on this matter that would be great

can you make that noice for me...it helps me diagnose problems...;) most likely its not the card. If you feel it is you might try updating your drivers. The sound card probably isn't whats crashing the computer but when it crashes it ouputs a sound like a high pictched constant beeping sound like its from inside the computer and not the speakers. Otherwise you also might want to check the fan on the card. Make sure that it isn't covered with dust. You can pick up that compressed air at and computer store for like a few bucks and spray the card with it.

Er, what's the rest of your system? and have you updated the card's drivers recently?

Try uninstalling the current drivers, then installing new ones, sometimes trying to instal new over old doesn't work.

Mouse: What do you mean HT? And how would the Pentium 4 cause his speakers to have a high pitched sound?

Jason HT (hyperthreading) is a feature of the newest Pentium 4's, there's a compatibility issue with Audigy 2 sound cards when HT is enabled, the latest drivers are supposed to fix it. One of the side effects is rapid stuttering and high pitched noise.
It could be something simple, like dust, a poor output connection, etc...

I have a pentium 3 1ghz and there does not seem to be any dust on the sound card nor does it have a fan as i just checked it. I just tried to install the latest drivers but i got a blue screen of death half way through the update so main driver would not respond to windows so it gave that error in device manager. I clicked on update driver button and windows used the the instaltion cd to re-instal the drivers but blue screen of death cam just after completion so I uninstaled everything and instaled just the drivers no eax control or speaker calerbration stuff but know the sound sounds terrible and it like a corrupt mp3 file. Iam still finding little solutions on creativs website i can try out
oh and i live in the UK
*Edit* K i managed to update my drivers without it crasjing and it didnt make a differnce to low quality sound iam hearing aslo I can bearly hear wav files and mp3 files are disturted when i listen to them
*edit2* K basicly i have uninstaled everything and re-instaled everything adn updated drivers, things actually seem to be ruuning smothly although I havent had a crasth yet I suppose only time will tell and I will keep u posted on that
*edit3* yup it crashed again while i was playing music, took a while though but it happened so what now. everything has been updated and re-instaled

K i contacted creative and they saw that the problem was that the card was sharing 7 other IRQ numbers on number 11 they ggave me some info on how change the IRQ number but i needed some help so phoned my computer company but they said that the only way that it can be moved is if you re-install windows
can any of you help

you want help reinstalling windows or fixing the IRQ numbers? sounds like either a registry or a driver deal. Both of which my expertise is limited...

my computer => right click => Properties => Device Manager
If there's a conflict there'll be a yellow spot with an exclamation mark next to the sound card.
btw if your Audigy is in the slot next to the video card, move it, the AGP slot shares irq with the first PCI slot, this may be the problem. I don't see why a reinstall be necessary, sounds like the company fobbed you off as they didn't know the solution tbh :(

no no conflict or exclamations in device manager at all. when i phoned up my computer company about what creative had said they too said that the irq's were designed to be shared and even re-installing windows woont garentee that the the sound card will not be shared by other irq's. Although it is being shared by my graphics card but physically inside there the furthest apart possible

try pulling it out and removing all drivers for it...restart the computer without it...and see how it works....then put it back in and reinstall all the drivers for it...
