ok totally clueless about what I'm doing with ubuntu - one of those necessity breeds invention kinds of things

so I'm running ubuntu 11.1.0 64 bit and I've downloaded netbeans 7.0.1 for linux - netbeans-7.0.1-ml-php-linux.sh and I have no idea how to get it installed

the installation instructions on netbeans says I need to do chmod -x netbeans-7.0.1-ml-php-linux.sh but I have no idea where or how to do that

any help is greatly appreciated!
