I want to edit my webpage offline using PHP. For some reason I can use PHP online, but offline my PHP files are not being read. I downloaded the file from php.net to enable it but it only works on servers and isn't working on my C:\ drive when I preview my files. Can anyone help me?

To run your php web pages on your pc you would need a web server and the php engine. You can download phpdev from my fellow mod's Firepages' website.

http://www.firepages.com.au

That will give you php and apache plus mysql and perl depending on which download you choose.

Spookster,

I noticed that the php4 package on your site says it runs php as an Apache module. I thought that was only possible in Linux. Have things changed - or was I mistaken?

Firepages developed the phpdev package so that question would be better for him to answer.

oooh thats me :)

PHP can run as an apache module on win32 or as an ISAPI module for IIS if that tickles your fancy, though apache2 support is ropey at best, you can even get AOLserver & netscape modules ! ug
