i've created a bg gif with lines in it which looks ok for what i need but what i cant seem to do is get the background image to blend with the transparent purple corner. its layered so the purple corner is on the first then the transparent bg is on the second layer.
i know what colours it needs but photoshop wont let me configure it, if it does it wont use the colours in the gif. im a bit mistified.
Can you show maybe?
Gif only supports 256 colors - might be one of the reasons Photo Shop won't let you configure it.
Try converting it to a jpg and try again.
Just a thought...

JPG's do not support transparencies.

change to an RGB palette to edit the colors, then back to an Indexed palette to resave as a gif.
Oops - Didn't take the transparancy into account when I replied.

Are you speaking of that little white edge there? That is common, and can only (from what I know) overcome by:
1) taking the anti-aliasing off when you created the circle (and filled or deleted the edge)
2) export the gif with a little bit of the background in it.
In photoshop, you can lesson the colors as well, and delete the white edge too -- when you go "save for web" there should be little color squares on your right that you can delete. Delete the white ones and that should do it.
I'm a little confused still by the post, am I onto what your talking about?:(

What I have done for the white on my .gifs is open them up, put a black layer behind it and select the white with the magic wand, and hit delete, delete the black layer File save.
