Adding controls to a swf (then adding to website)

This swf was made without any controls (pausing, stopping, starting etc). Is there anything free I can use to embed this into my site?

You can’t modify an SWF file as it is kind of a “flattened” output file. You’d need to modify the source file which would be an FLA file.
