good shopping cart software

I am setting up a web site for someone and they want to be able to sell their CDs online by credit cards if the visitor has one. What are some of the better, yet not too expensive, shopping cart software out there? What makes the ones you suggest better than the rest? Worth the money I'll have to pay for it?
