Hi

I had started making website by what all i learn till now.

I designed pages on rough first and one by one coding them.

Please suggest for below

1. I had one heading on top of the page.
2. below heading i write some menu items like HOME, ABOUT US, etc.

How i differentiate the things like i want background of heading part contain different colour and background of menu part contain different colour and rest with other colour.
I had seen imageline() function for use, is this ok or some other method to use.

Secondly i want to show different products to display. Example, if table needs to display on the screen with its description.
What kind of pictute one use jpg,bmp or others.
My purpose is to display the product with description.
I still had to decide whether i show products with desc that will change automatically after some timeframe or should i provide some list so that user select product and images will change accordingly.

Thanks
Himanshoo

Your colour's can be easily achieved with CSS. Javascript should only be approached when you're wanting limited animation.

As for your products, how are you storing your documents? In a database? Or are you hardcoding them with HTML? Could you elaborate a bit on that?

Till now i dont want to use any other script like java, css, etc.

I only go with the combination of PHP & HTML.

Second, i had decided to put images in one folder and pick the same from that path to display.

Is there a PHP question hiding in here somewhere that I just cannot see? This looks to me to be only HTML/CSS questions. The only thing I see that is PHP is imageline which is what you could use when dynamically creating a graphic, not for use in any output.

I don't mean this in any bad way ... but it sounds like you don't know how, or where to start in making a dynamic website. A site that uses a database, template structure, and is user interactive. We can tell you that you will be using PHP and MySQL, but without actually teaching a complete development course for you, I'm not sure what we're going to be able to do.

It's great that you are throwing yourself into an advanced PHP/MySQL project. I just don't think this forum is the best venue for you. We can answer specific PHP questions and scripting problems, but we cannot offer you a complete programming course, or do the programming for you.

Thanks any way for your views.

But i would like to clear that i dont want any coding from your part or course.
I will code it myself.
It is only where i feel guidance, i ask questions.
I just said i want to use PHP & HTML only, for displaying line to separate the parts of page can be achieved or not.

Forums are meant to discuss related things as per my understanding.

Beginners would have get advantage of being part of such forums.

Anyways nice talking to you, will find books to answer queries.

Thanks

Oh, so all you want is a line separator? <hr /> - it's like br except has a horizontal line. You can stylise it with CSS to your pleasing.

If you want your vertical ones, you can just have a floating div or an li with the class separator, then have a CSS rule for that class with the background colour of the separator you want, and set your width and height to your requirements.

Not a PHP problem.

I think maybe you need to understand the fundamental concepts of what PHP is and isn't or what it can and cannot do. PHP is a scripting language that runs on the server and does not tell the web browser how to display page content. The display of content in the web page is controlled using HTML and CSS. Javascript (Not to be confused with Java which is how you referred to it earlier) can also be used with HTML and CSS to help provide more dynamic control of how the content is displayed.

So your questions right now really have nothing at all to do with PHP. If you need help with page design and layout you need to post those questions in the client side forums.

Thanks a lot.

I used hr tag for display line.

My second question remain unanswered, is this also not the part of php?

As you said i am at wrong place.i apologise for the same.

As per my understanding till date, it seems PHP and HTML go hand in hand, php embedded within HTML for the purpose.

All i say that i only want to use PHP & HTML for my website, may be it is possible that one needs to have the other sources to accomplish things in coding which is out of scope or cannot be achieved from PHP & HTML.

In my first query in this forum, i ask how and where to learn php, one could find sources to answer queries.

I only want to learn PHP & HTML at this time only, not trying hand at other things.

I again apologise for wasting your precious time.

Please suggest what is the right thing/place for me to learn PHP.

Thanks

Hi

I had designed 5-6 screens for my web site.

Please help for following:

I had one screen where user needs to enter username and password.

1. How we put "*" in the password text so that actual combination cannot be seen.

2. I check the username and password in separate script but
if text fields are blank or wrong combination then how one could come back to login page.

Thanks
