hi,

My site has a layout that is big. I have dsl, and it takes me a few seconds, I shudder to think how long that is for 56k. That's why I use IFrames, so it only has to load once. But, I don't like watching it load. I want it to seem like it doesn't load at all. I want it to go to a page that says, "site loading," then when the loading is done, i want it to send the user to the site. Is there any way I can do that???

Here's a script you might be interested in taking a look at. CLick on "View Script" (to the left) to see the script in action. Just carefully read the installation and configuration instructions commented into the script. You would put into the page(s) that loads into your iframe:

http://www.dhtmlcentral.com/script/script.asp?id=17

Good luck ;) .

I use an IFrame to display my content. Look here:

But when I put in the loading script, it wont display the IFrame, shown here:

Hmm...I see what you mean. Not sure what's happening at a glance. I'll work on an example a bit later on to see if I can isolate why this is happening (a bit pressed for time right now).

In the meantime, maybe someone else will have some suggestions aside from the loading bar script I pointed you to. I'll leave this thread here for now because it's still in the suggestions phase and doesn't have a definitive solution to be pursued. Again, I'll work on this a bit later when time is permits ;).

PS: I just visited again (the second URL) and it seemed to work. I didn't look at the source, but did you put the script into the page that loads into the iframe (as you should) or the page containing the iframe?

Edit: I think the apparent freeze on my first visit was because the page was still loading, thus the script was working. I see now that you have the script in the page containing the iframe, which is fine if that's what you want. If you just want to hide the contents of the iframe until it's loaded, put the script into the page that loads into the iframe.
