Is it possible to use mms with quicktime? We currently have a live streaming video that opens in media player, we'd like to offer opening it in quicktime as well but I haven't been able to get it to work.

Here's the code:

<object
classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B"
codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab"
height="250"
width="230" >
<param name="src" value="mms://IPADDRESSHERE/"/>
<param name="scale" value="aspect" />
<param name="controller" value="true" /> //add 16px to height
<param name="autoplay" value="false" />
<embed
type="video/quicktime"
pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"
height="136"
width="96"
src="mms://IPADDRESSHERE/"
scale="aspect"
controller="true" //the controller adds 16px to height
autoplay="false" />
</object>

MMS? I’m by far not a pro in this field but (and maybe for that reason) a quick glimpse at the respective Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Media_Server) has taught me that:

The MMS protocol has been deprecated since 2003 (the same year that IE for Mac was abandoned) and official support for it has stopped in 2008 (that’s like three years ago), and
Quicktime doesn’t support MMS.

If you wanna go with time then use Flash video (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_video) and/or HTML5 video (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video) (that’s especially useful for mobile devices built by Apple as they don’t support Flash).
