Writing to and from a text file

I'm currently building a website for a sports team, whom are in a league. I want to know if it's possible using HTML and JavaScript to use a page with a form where i could add the scores and fixtures dates etc to a text file, and then use this text file to put a table on another page displaying all the information in the file?

I'm not entirely sure that that just made sense, so if not write a reply saying it didn't and i'll try and explain more clearly.

JavaScript cannot read from nor write to files. You will need to use a Server Side language such as PHP or Perl to perform that function.
