Does anyone know about the reliability of screen res and bit depth stats like those available at sites like http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2003/May/res.php

I never know if the figures there are credible.

thx!

But don't you know that statistics always lie? :p

Personally I think it can be used to detect trends. Nothing more. Also remember that while desktop screens get larger small devices get more common too. In Japan the most sommon way to access the Internet is with their cell phones, or so I'm told.

At least it defies the assumption that "everybody uses 1024x768 or higher these days"...

But what about the 2-3% of users (according to these stats) with either 8-bit colour and/or 640x480 screens? You bend over backwards to make sites accessible, but is it too much to cater for the limitations of these poor folk? I dunno, no answers over here...

The PDA's are attacking! :D

Everybody uses 1024*768 and higher when 44% uses 800*600? And what says the ones that do like their windows maximized?
