shtml vs html

Can someone give me an explanation on the difference between shtml and html. I have a good understanding of html but not shtml.

And how do I create shtml?

I always thought that shtml was used primarily for secure and encrypted html. I also notice that most secure and encrypted htmls ends with shtml.
