I am developing a Dictionary (on a web page). I need a permanent box (like the Google search page) where when you start to type the word it will provide the word options, starting with the letters that have already been typed.
I am sure there is a nomenclature for this but I have no idea what it is.
Could some one please tell me the nomenclature and possibly point me to a script?:

Why not try googling "search feature script" or something similar? There are many ways to do this, depending on how complicated you want to go, as well as many different languages you can use to code it.

Ok I have now searched(goggled) for over 8 hours and can not find what I am looking for. Maybe I am not recognizing what is in front of me.
From my searching I think I am looking for a find in page with auto complete.
I do not want to search the internet or my web site. Just want to search a page with about 2000 definitions.

Google has a script that you can use to index your site and then insert a search box just like google has. This will only search YOUR site though. Another option is a canned search tool like Zoom Index. Its free for indexing up to 50 pages and pretty easy to set up. Neither of these options would allow auto complete searching though. To do something like that, you could set up your own database with all you dictionary terms in a tabe, create your own search feature using php, coldfusion or the like, then you'd need to add some ajax functionality to incorporate the auto complete feature.
