Custom Scroll Bars

Hi all,

I am new to the world of Javascript so please be patient with me. My background is Graphic design and I have been thrown into the programming side of things without any sort of training.

I am currently working on a website that I feel will look and function better with custom scroll bars. I have been on a few sites that use these and I noticed that the majority use layers and customize the scrolling function using Javascript. Does anybody know of a site where I can go through a tutorial or a sample of a custom scroll bar?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your suggestion. It is appreciated.

However, this is not what I am trying to achieve. A good example of what I am looking for can be found on the U2.com website (non-flash). The timeline that is located at the bottom is how I would like my site to operate. Unfortunately, because my knowledge of Javascript is limited, I cannot understand the code.
