Edit CSS with JavaScript

I am having some issues. I have a loading bar, created with CSS. Although, I want to fill the loading bar (Increasing the width) with javascript (onload)

Is this possible? Thanks.

yes, you will probably want to create a recursive function incorporated with the setTimeout() function to make the loading bar grow in increments...do you have any code for this?
