slideshow commentary?

I'm working on a website right now and decided to try to throw in some Java script. I'm trying to make an image slideshow (with commentary) and found a good resource at..

The problem I have is that rather than a regular text box, it puts in an input box which I don't really like the look of. Is there a way to switch the input box for a regular text box with a fixed message for each image?
