okay fellas heres the deal....i have an image right and its in the background of the cell. Now is there any way i can create a hotspot onto the background picture?

kinda like an image map? nope. that has to be done with an image that is "on" the page instead of "in" it.

thats what i feard haha...o well i think i figured out my problem...i just sliced my page up to add another image with the image and i solved my problem.....thanks for your help bro. This place is great by the way. It was not even ten minutes i dont think and i got a reply. Thats fast thanks guys

If this comes up again you might want to consider using a transparent image over the top of the "background image". You can then use hotspots in the transparent image that correspond to the background image.

What about using stylesheets to control an image map which would appear to be the background. Using layers, it would acherly be an imagemap and you could use another layer to put anything you want over the top of it.

You could create invisible tables/divs on top which act as links as well.
