Hi, I was just wondering how much it would cost to code similar functionality that can be seen on lookbook.nu? How big of a project would this be considered?

Also, a side question if anyone has the time, but that "hype" function on the lookbook.nu much like the facebook and youtube "like" is really some function of a voting system?

If anyone has answers, it'd much appreciated!

Hello there,

I looked over the site, and I am interested in this project. I will need to get a few more details from you, but I would start out with a base price of $350. If you are interested to take it from here, just let me know. I will answer any questions you have if I can.

Thanks,

Dan

Sorry, I have to clarify what I wanted.

I am talking about the functionality of the website, not the layout. I can make the layout but the problem I am having is the server side code required for the users to interact like so on lookbook.nu with the voting system for the images uploaded.

Wellsir, that is a difficult question to answer, based upon a casual user's view of the website. To get the best estimate possible, you should write up a list of the features your clone website should have. The more detailed this set of features is, the better your estimate will be.

You can start your list at the 1,000 foot level-- for example, "Voting System" is a feature. But of course, drilling down into that voting system will break it into a dozen or more details, all of which are necessary when it comes to coding the product.

You'll also want to think about features that you would normally dismiss as trivial-- for example, a hook into Facebook may seem "easy", but that may require 20 hours of work to complete, which increases the cost of the final product.

I would be doing you a disservice by just wild-guessing based on my perspective of that website, because I simply don't know how much of that website you'd really want to include in your estimate. I can readily say it's in the thousands, but how far into the thousands? Without a feature list, it's impossible to accurately (or even inaccurately) say.
