I can't view asp files even though I have pws installed. I download NT option pack 4.0 (31megs) from microsoft and It said that I have to be running NT to use it but Microsoft said it would run on 9x....AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?
:(
This is driving me up the wall....

depends which windows and which pws version you have, i used to have windows 95 with pws 2 (i think) there was an extra program you had to install which gave pws asp-capabilities. If you like i can do some digging in old backup cd's to find the program, but you can also do a search on the web for it, i dont know the name of the program though
Maybe this link helps: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnbegvb/html/howtosetuppwsonyourmachine.asp

:D I have sought have fixed the problem, I was try to just open the pages because http://localhost/page.asp was not working I have since found out that I can use http://127.0.0.1/page.asp which seems to work fine. Although localhost would work a lot better then 127.0.0.1. Oh well, It will do. Now all I have to worry about is learning asp;)
Thanks any way!

localhost is just an alias for 127.0.0.1 it should work as well.

It doesn't seem to, i have checked out the hosts.sam file it seems to be ok, but I don't realy know about that.
When I type in localhost it just sits a few minutes and return an error page. but 127.0.0.1 doesn't

Try pinging localhost. It should return an ICMP packet from 127.0.0.1
Did you assign your website to an ip? Or did you set it to (All Unassigned)?

What's pinging? And the IP was assigned automatically.

My computer name is small I've tried http://small but it doesn't work.
I got the nt option pack 4 link from link i followed at microsoft. The original link was in the PWS documentation. Which sadi something about getting a home computer version...something that didn't make sense anyway.
This is what it said on default.asp:PWS has been optimized for interactive workstation use, and does not have the system requirements of Microsoft Internet Information Server. To get a copy of Personal Web Server for your desktop computer, visit http://backoffice.microsoft.com/downtrial/optionpack.asp So I followed that to find out about using asp on pws...then i found it did work but now my problem is the address.
