look interesting and i realy like it until i seen About Me. The main difference between art and design is functionality and this effect is prety annoing and disfunctional, :).

best regards

i don't talk about the color, but about the hover/blinking of the text.
and i don't know if to remove or not, i know myself, i know that i dislike this but i don't know if is only me or not.
maybe is possible to make it less painfull if is slower, but probably default as visible since if is not visible from start is hard to guess that is something there.

best regards

I really like that background. It's quite interesting and best of all not done in Flash.

If you're going to use that hover effect on links, make it much quicker: I get disconcerted because I can't tell whether the page is reacting or not.

Hello, thanks for the comment. Well I kind of doubt that its a local issue with your pc. I tested this site on 2 different pc and 1 laptop and the hover effect is reacting pretty fast. What can I say, jQuery animations are not so light for some browsers and computers.

I visited with Opera with images initially turned off. I see a black screen with five links at the top; totally unimpressive.

I turned images on and found a semi-interesting picture, but that's it.

Well I really can't help if some one has turned off images or javascript. And after all, it's more about the portfolio not about the site itself. Thanks for the comment.

Just remember, some ppl choose to disable javascript in their browsers. Also, IE is still the most widely used browser despite its bugs and shortcomings, so as a web designer, you cant purposely alienate a major part of your target audience simply to add cool js effects.

Functionality and usability should be the main priority in web design. Having everything work WITHOUT any javascript is key, then add js as an added bonus. Just my take on it anyway.

All this is true. Anyway I didn't choose to alienate my IE audience, the IE itself made me do so. I had enough fights with this browser and I did my best. And again, although I agree with the "make everything work without JS first" I still can't help those who turned it down. What if I chose to make my site entirely with flash ? A lot of ppl turn it off too, but then I really can't do anything about it. Don't want to start a long argue, I'm just sharing thoughts. And again, I agree with a lot of the things you sad, thanks for stopping by.
Have a nice day ^^

the idea is to notify the user that he need javascript/cookies/flash or whatever you need enabled and from that point is user decision if he want to see it or not.
i use to have js disabled, if i see something interested on a site( when is disabled) plus a message that i need to enable, i don't need something else to decide to continue to look to the site.

best regards
