Hi all

I am making a site for a card designer/illustrator. I have uploaded it onto a free webspace so she can see the work in progress.

however an image I have created for the index page doesn't show. Basically its something you can click to skip the animation that is on the page. its in the top right corner and at the moment just shows the alt text! Can anyone help as to why it may not be showing? It does when i'm checking the page off my folders on laptop but not on this webspace. I have checked the path, filename etc and am no clearer! gahhhh!!

ta muchly in advance

ps. site is still a work in progress so I know there are issues to be worked on!!

The Net tab of my firebug says

GET skip%20intro.jpg

404 Not found

clairelewis24.webspace.virginmedia.com

Have you uploaded it to that path?

PS: It's a good practice to avoid spaces in file/folder names.

that's the path you are defining.

The image is either not there or not named that.

ok have tried the basics, taken it out of folder, so its on same level as page, changed the path to <img src="skipintro.jpg etc......> but still no luck!!

Don't get it everyother picture is there. Could it be that its a small image? would a png work better then jpg? i don't understand as its definatly uploaded and it definaltly works when i open page off local folder on laptop.

any other ideas to try??

thanks I do appreciate help!!

What's the image supposed to look like? Here is a screen cap of what I'm seeing. I see some text yes, but its some type of font not normal for just an alt text. Firebug shows it as the image as well(the part near the bottom my mouse is hovered over).

Yes, but it develops into a cube face with square rectangles which are links. Rather like the face of a Rubic cube.

EDIT: Like this. (http://www.exitfegs.co.uk/joho-designs-home.html)Click here.
This it not a link tothe OP's site.. It is a download of the page from my screen.

Ok thats strange. When I load the link you gave Frank, the images appear at first, then slowly about half of them become broken links.

Ok I see. The link you gave was a recreation of her site. You must not have the hover images so they are the ones that break. Blond moment for me I guess..lol

Yes. I am not saying it is perfect. I don't know how many links are actually set up. But it appears to work broadly. But seems to vary according to which browser you use.

Still a work in progress I think.

Please re-read my previous post. I have added some extra info.

its basically an image that says 'skip intro' that will take you to the home page grid you mentioned.

teedoff: you seem to have seen the image, thats what its supposed to look like, and as i say you click it to skip that animation and go straight to the home page.

so it seems its a browser thing then. Iv been using Firefox (very poorly not checking others as yet.....naughty I know!)

anyway will keep looking into it and looks like a fix maybe needed somewhere.

Oh and yes it is still very much a work in progress so will be checking all browsers from now on!

hmm Claire, so if I can see it here, this means the image is ON your server. Are you sure you're not viewing a cached version of your site locally?

Possibly! There did also seem to be a radom l in the code which I also removed.

Anyway it seems to work now! Maybe one of lifes little mysteries but hey kept us all occupied for a while huh!:D

Thanks for taking time to look at it!
