The impossible was done :) Adobe created a tool to convert Flash to HTML5. Interesting:

Wow, I'm genuinely impressed.
Also, surprised, you'd think Adobe would want to make sure as many people as possible were using their technology!

Yeap, but the bad news is that, within the last 20 minutes I tried some tests with their tool. The result is always the same: conversion failed with 1 error : Fla Version Not supported :D

I am using Flash CS 5, and I expected Wallaby to understand CS 5 FLA files. It does not. I tried with CS3. It does not. I am not sure what version of fla should work :D

----

Edit: it worked till the end. CS 5 format FLA. It works, but only somehow. I mean: the result HTML5 animation works only on Chrome (and I think in all the webkit based browsers). The CSS used is webkit. Well, let's say it is a start. :)

OK, as far as I could have analyzed, the technology behind Wallaby works like that:

- images are converted into SVG objects
- the presentation is assured by a generated webkit compliant CSS code
- the dynamic is assured by a generated JQuery code (Wallaby uses and generates [or downloads?] the 1.4.2 JQuery code). I suspect that Wallaby translates ActionScript 3 into JavaScript as JQuery.

Interesting

Adobe does want you to use flash, which is why they made this. You make your flash movie for all the platforms that support it and then can convert it to HTML 5 so it will work on iOS and other platforms that won't allow flash.

Exactly. They are not interested in translating Flash to any platform, but to the smartphones' browsers. This is the reason for their translator uses CSS Webkit. And SVG instead of HTML5 canvas. They pretend that JavaScript/HTML5 is still "experimental" and SVG is faster than canvas. Nuts! :) They want only to penetrate the mobiles market, where Apple refuses to render Flash applications :D

Wow. I was completely oblivious to this. The CCS is obviously webkit.

I had a quick play with it, didn't convert any of my files. I downloaded a simple 'test' fla file from the internet which was essentially just a simple 2 second animation and it worked though.

Not sure I'd use it any time soon... very messy code.

wow this is fantastic. The guys in the adobe are simply genius with super minds:)

If there is any bug in the tool then they will soon come with some updates.

While I really like the Adobe work referenced by the OP, I've unfortunately had to switch over to Foxit for a PDF reader due to a conflict between Adobe Acrobat reader and the Canon print driver for a networked printer. If I recall correctly, I'm the only one in the building having that problem. :(

It would be great if Adobe would spread its genius out just a bit and bring the older products up, too!

Very interesting and i think this can help many people to avoid the Flash which is very big disadvantage that search engine can't read them and that's why most of the flash website are difficult to optimize a website for the search engine results.

It is impressive I must admit, but what is the reason behind it? Really, is it because of apple ?
