Hi everyone,

I'm having some trouble getting my website (http://www.element17.com) to behave identically across the most popular web browsers. My reference browser is Chrome, so viewing it in Chrome you can see how it's supposed to look.

In IE8, the site looks perfect (other than no rounded corners, but I know that doesn't work and I'm unwilling to fiddle around with hacks to get what I consider to be a triviality to work in a browser soon to be replaced), but on the actual image pages (http://www.element17.com/index.php?level=picture&id=430,for example), the next and previous picture links do not appear.

Can anyone help me out with this? I'm not sure what you'll need for source code, but can provide anything on request.

Thanks very much everyone!

Its not just IE8... I'm not seeing it on Firefox (3.6) or Chrome. In fact, I looked at the source of the page you linked, and I could find no buttons named/labeled "Next", "Last", "Previous" etc. Where should they show? How are those links generated? If you have links appearing in one browser and not another, and you're not doing any browser detection, its likely not a PHP issue, but a CSS/HTML issue.

Ah! So sorry, for two reasons...

The first is that this post is obviously in the wrong forum... Mods, could you perhaps move it to the appropriate area?

The second is that I neglected to fully explain the navigation. When you hover your mouse over the photo, you should see the title and EXIF data in the bottom right. If you move your mouse to the far left or right of the photo, you should see the back and forward buttons respectively.

Why is a html issue in a php forum? :confused:

I apologize. The site is coded largely in PHP so I presumed that to be the appropriate forum.

Hello NaOH,
It seems that one image is the only page that is not working? The only one I found anyway.
Here is the code for the broken page -
<!--<h2 class="date">February 4, 2011</h2>-->

<div class="picture-holder" style="width:629px;height:950px;">

<div id="hovering" style="position: absolute;margin: 0px;padding: 0px;top: 0px;left: 0px;z-index: 1000;width:629px;height:950px;">

<div class="exif-data">
<h2>Fervor</h2>
February 4, 2011<br />
<div class="exif"> Nikon D7000, Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR DiII VC @ 50 mm, f/2.8, 1/60 sec, ISO 180
</div>
</div> <img class="photos-large" src="http://element17.com/plog-content/images/constructs/2011/20110204-dsc_0559.jpg" alt="Fervor" /></div>

</div>

And here is the code for a page that does work. See the differences highlighted in red?
<!--<h2 class="date">March 19, 2010</h2>-->

<div class="picture-holder" style="width:631px;height:950px;">

<div id="hovering" style="position: absolute;margin: 0px;padding: 0px;top: 0px;left: 0px;z-index: 1000;width:631px;height:950px;">

<div class="exif-data">

<h2>Untitled</h2>
March 19, 2010<br />
<div class="exif"> Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.8G @ 35 mm, f/1.8, 1/50 sec, ISO 400
</div>
</div><a id="prev-button" href="http://www.element17.com/index.php?level=picture&amp;id=86">&nbsp;</a> <a id="next-button" href="http://www.element17.com/index.php?level=picture&amp;id=88">&nbsp;</a><img class="photos-large" src="http://element17.com/plog-content/images/constructs/2010/20100319-dsc_5558.jpg" alt="Untitled" /></div>
