Design Idea for a site

I was wondering wat everyone thought of this little design for a site interface, that I whipped up. Keep in mind, the intention was "simplicity". Comments and Criticism welcome.

very sorry for the double post, but i decided to mix a little of my 2 favorite colors.

yeah thats much better. i like the red and black but maybe th red needs to be still a little brighter to stand out from the black
