I would lose the bright red text against the light blue background. It's difficult to read.

Why scroll the available packages? Why not just list them all statically on the page? Why make the user wait until the one they want scrolls across?

The font in the top menu needs to be changed. The letters are too thin and close together and nearly impossible to read.

What does the dice have to do with the name localhoster? I don't get it.

And why are some of the pages a different design?

I like the new one better, I don't like those ones that you posted Spookster -- the new one is more structured and has better colors. My only gripe is the animation is a little slow (I'm on a T1) and the top text, though cool, is cramped and uncomfortable to read. Otherwise, I like the color mix.

No doctype
depreciated HTML
tag soup
here is the part that "impressed" me the most (bolds are mine):

</table></td>
</tr>
<tr>

<td width="100%">
<p align="center">&nbsp;</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="100%"><p></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>

</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</center>
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

</div>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

That is SEVEN :rolleyes: :D :D :D tables deep....

... if that is what you get on your third try...no offense, but... maybe you should consider hiring someone to do it for you...

first of all the text is orange not red? I think it contrasts quite well against the blues and attracts the user.

yes, that was the old version. We are slowly fading it out.

The dice is simply an eyecatching image. It dominates the whole page. It makes you always look up and see the name 'localhoster'.

I will look at the animation for you guys. Perhaps i can speed it up a tad. We chose to animate the plans and not statically place them because we wanted to be diffrent. If people are generally interested in a web hosting provider then they will be reading the text at the bottum describing the plan details while the plans scroll above them.

Thanks for the comments. Keep them comming :)

Not to be a dick here, but you sounded a little snippy about the color comments. My advice is if you're going to take criticism badly, I'd get out of the design business -- the best stuff you're going to get is from the kid in the back of the room that yells 'that sucks because...'

...but, hey, I may be reading it wrong.

I would also say that if you wanted to be 'different' and not statically place the info, that's great... but it's not going to happen with that animation. Advance it more by spending time doing more design techniques either in Flash (which would be my recommendation if you want some advanced stuff) or your java, Dhtml. You could easily do a quick Flash animation with all the options popping out of no where like an add or something integrated into your work. The right to left slide just looks like a trick based off PowerPoint Presentations.

I work with several professional graphics designers that would disagree with you on that. Red, orange....anyways it still does not contrast well with the light blue background. If you insist on straining your visitors eyes then at least change the font/font size to something more easily readable using those colors.

Well it's not really all that eyecatching. The only reason I noticed it was because it looked out of place and didn't fit the picture. Your logo represents your business. You should design it so that it at least has some kind of meaning that represents the business you do or the business name.

If people are generally interested in a web hosting provider then they will be reading the text at the bottum describing the plan details while the plans scroll above them.

I assume then you plan to also list out the plans statically on the page? Being different is not necessarily a good thing. From a marketing/advertisement standpoint you don't want the potential customer to have to wait to see information. The front page of a commercial website is like the front of your store. You want them to clearly see what you have to offer and just offer enough to entice them to come inside. There is a good reason many web hosts do that. For example here is one:

http://www.apollohosting.com/index.php

The hosting packages are right there and the visitor can read it at their leisure and not have to wait for something to scroll.

Just remember you asked for feedback and many of us here do this for a living.

I guess that come out wrong. I wasn’t being snappy and if it appeared that way then I apolagise. I really do appreciate all your comments :)
