View Full Version : Site Review Request

I was wondering if someone could review my website and let me know what you think about it. I'm not really computer literate so if possible please speak in terms that I can understand.
This is something that I've been working on for about a year in my spare time and just about completed all the final touches. Please be as honest as you can and don't worry about hurt feelings. I want to know what you really think about it. Thanks in advance for your input.

Sorry but the website did not even open. I don't know what happened. after searching for a century I was told that the website could not be found. I guess the site is down or something well look at that first.

Site opened fine for me yesterday and this morning. Maybe your server was down when the above poster couldnt view it.
I think you have agreat site, especially since as you say, you are not very pc literate. The biggest advice I could give you about it is how much content you have, especially on the home page. I had to page down 4 times to get to the bottom of your page. Site users have a tendancy to get bored easy and lose focus on a site when there is too much content. Think about how you might read a magazine or newspaper. If you're like me, you scan all over the page until you find the most interesting article.
There is a GREAT book by Steve Krug called "Dont Make Me Think". Its very small, easy to read and fairly cheap to pick up. I would highly recommend this because he talks about how to make websites appealing to users, while keeping their attention by using simple design techniques and standards.
Anyway, might check out more on your site later. The functionality, which is the most important part, seemed good but again I didnt get into it very deep.
Hope that helps somewhat.

Ok I did check out some functionality, which for me starts with viewing the source code and validating it.
You dont have a valid doctype which will cause nightmares if not fixed. Also, you have a mostly table layout which is not a good idea unless you are displaying tabular data.
You can find out why tables for layouts are bad here (http://www.hotdesign.com/seybold/).
You can view your validation errors here (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.assassinexterminating.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0).

Thanks for the input so far teedoff but I'm already lost. I created the site using sitesolution so I'm not familiar with validation errors. I looked at the link but couldn't figure out what it meant or how to fix it. Can you tell me a little more about what it means and how to go about fixing it? Thanks again for the input
