Creating a portal

Hey there. I'm trying to figure out how to add a portal to my site. I don't have any clue what I'm doing... I downloaded Board 3 portal, followed all the instructions regarding files. But the last instruction was:

Browse to install_portal/install.php and run the installer, after successfull installation delete the installer.

How do I "run the installer"? What does this mean? I use Filezilla as FTP. I've tried playing around in install.php but I don't know how to "run the installer". Can I get some help on this please?

If so, the installation FAQ is here (http://www.board3.de/knowledge/kb_show.php?id=22) and you have to navigate to install.xml in your web browser and then do all the text edits. It looks like you have to edit a bunch of files, and then copy them over and then it seems you can run the installer at: install/index.php

Also this is an add-on to phpBB3 forum, so you'll need to install that first.

Installation doesn't seem automatic, to say the least. They have a forum over there, so I'm sure you can find better help there.
