Favorite graphic software?

what is your Favorite graphic software?

I'd choose PS. I've tried free versions that try to mimic it's features and ability but PS is second to none. GIMP is one of the programs I've tried, I became very good with it after awhile but it was lacking many of the things I need and want for web design graphics and became later useless. I finally took my money and bought PS CS5, I can't say I regret a single thing that was done then.

I've never used paint.net, I don't understand if that compares to PS or if it has the same features. I've heard it's equal to PS but that's a bit far-fetched seeing me paying $600 for the program.

Well mine are PS and CS - the newest versions just knock everything off. It is just perfectly funny to work with these and you always discover some new features or shortcuts or things you did not know - it is all just a big game and that makes working with graphic softwares so entertaining and interesting.

Pixlr is a phenomenal free addition to firefox that (for an addon) does a mind-numbing great job at imitating photoshop
FotoFlexer.com is pretty cool for removing backgrounds online quickly

Since you know PS, I would suggest Illustrator before FW because Illustrator is a vector based drawing program while PS and FW are pixel based painting programs.

It's a Japanese program. But there's an English patch on the web that converts it. It's a paint program like Photoshop, using layers, brushes, etc. It's very nice.

I use CorelDRAW X3, but I'm a vector art guy. Use either PhotoShop or PhotoPaint if I'm doing bitmap work I can't do in CDR.

I first started off with Paint.Net (didn't have the cash for PS) and became pretty good at it. Then my cousin started letting me use his PS CS5, but never got down to really having the time to learn it. I still can't afford a PS of my own, so would you guys say that PS CS5 is a good PS version to start with? I know there's been upgrades and all, but considering my low finances, PS CS5 is all I can work with at this point in time.

By the way, any good free tuts you all can recommend to begin to learn PS? I've seen many on YouTube, but anyone know any good specific one's for beginners like myself? Thanks in advance.

Hi Iron Man. Any version of PS past CS1 or 2 is fine for learning. As far as free tutorials go I don't know of any but for $15 you can join lynda.com for a month ans learn plenty of it. That's what I would do if you want to get it over with fast. Best of luck :)

I've yet to find better then photoshop

Fireworks CS5, I've had it from Fireworks 8 and it is for me the easiest, the main pro for me is the easyness of applying gradients amongst other stuff

PhotoPosPro is the best and good to use. I like that.

I agree with most posters also, you just cannot go past Photoshop - you seriously get what you pay for it is THE app for graphics
and for vector - Illustrator
No doubt Adobe products, I'd swear by them

Photoshop, definitely the Rolls Royce of graphics applications.
