Although it's not a paying job I've secured a client! I get to remake their existing website (http://www.saddlebredaustralia.org.au).

Finally I will have something for my portfolio (new site coming soon as well) , and it gets better.. One of my friend's dad may want me to do a payed job ($$$:D) for a website for him.

About time I got something.

Congratulations.

The first time I tried for a client, he just wasn't feeling me at all.
I sent him a redesign of his site (which he didn't ask for btw), used valid xhtml, and pointed out alot of accessability issues to him, and he hired me to work with him for a little bit, it's a good learning experience.
Mind you I have never worked for a client I met online, word of mouth is a beast.

Good luck, and make a good example of that site.

Do you have a contract? It's an odd subject to bring up, and maybe too late for now, but I've gotten hosed before by people (even some business friends). So, now I always do a contract, because hey -- they're business men, sales people, government officials... namely not web coders/designers. Often times they don't understand why it takes as long as it does or how much goes into it, so I got tired of being walked over (not that much mind you, but a few times enough that I don't want it to happen).

To many this is stomping on the issue of trust -- but any company, non-profit, gov. agency will be more than happy to cover themselves and you. It makes it all pretty and professional.

If you want to view some of mine (you can steal the lingo) just PV or email me. Otherwise I know some sites that have samples.

Erm Mhtml, we know each other pretty well so when I say I'm pleased for you, you know I mean it... but I do have one problem.

When I clicked the link you gave, it takes me through to a site about "horny amateurs with big natural tits" which features nudity. I don't really think such a link is suitable for these forums (direct contravention of the rules?!?!?) and indeed I'm surprised that no-one else has remarked on this.

I would suggest perhaps you remove the link...?

That aside, I'm pleased you have found some work, and I wish you all the best

I saw a site about Amercan Saddlevred Horses. No naked girls or whatnot.
Now I get "page cannot be found".....LOL

I see a site about horses? I can't moderate something I can't see myself...

Horses here as well. You sure that wasn't something you had in your history you clicked by accident? :D

weird... Mhtml I do apologise, I certainly didn;t expect anything dodgy

All I did was click the link, and the site popped up... young fillies yes, horses no... ;)

I'll go back and have another look lol

(and nope, never seen the site before bradyj!)

Yep, every time I go there, it goes to 'big titties' etc. - I can;t see any horses! :(

This is the URL that appears - http://www.saddlebredaustralia.org.au/ - the same as Mhtml's link

OK what about these URLs:

http://www.saddlebredaustralia.org.au/2annatan02.jpg
http://www.saddlebredaustralia.org.au/annabik13.jpg

I picked some non-offensive images to link to, because I'd like to know if other people can see those images too. WHERE ARE THE HORSES? :(:(:(

Absolutely weird -- still just horses (clicked on your link krycek). I've had such things happen before when I click to a site, but I have no knowledge why. If you figure it out, let me know... rather interesting...

Those images you linked gave me a 404 krycek.

Hmmmmm.

First, I ran nslookup from my PC:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:>nslookup saddlebredautralia.org.au
Server: wormhole-gw2-fe-0a.vpdn.telehouse.murphx.net
Address: 217.148.40.6

*** wormhole-gw2-fe-0a.vpdn.telehouse.murphx.net can't find saddlebredautralia.o
rg.au: Non-existent domain

C:>

Then I put the domain through DNS Report:

http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=saddlebredaustralia.org.au

DNS Report says there are a LOT of errors with that domain. Seems like I'm going somewhere else.

Please sort the DNS so I can see the horses! :(

! Wahhh?

Sure you don't have some sort of a worm? I only get the horses! I don't have control of the website yet, I am going to their AGM this Sunday (We own a horse stud (my parents) so I'm a member, hence the job) where I will get control. I'll have to have a look then, but this is all very very confusing.

I think it has to be something on your system doin' it, or the address has been hijacked or the web host is doin' it.... Which reminds me, may switch the site to your hosting when you're up Krycek as they are paying waaay to much for so little.

I'll have to look into this though.

If the domain is suffering from DNS issues, some DNS server between you and the site has invalid data. I'd contact however the domain is registered through Mhtml and tell them there are some DNS issues with it.

Thanks James/and rest of peeps. :)

I'll have to check in with the registrar when I get control of the site this Sunday, thanks for the advice oracle!.

Horses for me, too, and congratulations Mhtml; maybe no pay, but a lot of valuable experience, and a chance to dive into a real project to put all the acquired knowledge into practice. Seeing the original site, I'd say you'll get plent of opportunity for improvement!
