Yes again i'm going to pick the brains of you brilliant people! Below is a link to my navigation template i have worked up (with example of what it should look like). I am trying to figure out how to build this best.
Any help yet again is much appreciated guys, i will keep trying to research this

I would make each button from two images, one for the link and vistited states and another for the hover and active states.
Code and style it similar to this menu example (http://nopeople.com/CSS/h_ul_menu-with_images/index.html).

Your a star Excavator yet again :D - However checkout: http://www.rhombusone.com/projecttiger/index.html
Do you reckon loading times will be a little slow using so many images? I'm slightly worried i might be relying on too many .png's!!! Or does it load ok for you guys?

Very nice. I would suggest combining the normal and hover images so they are one image, that means the hover state is already there waiting instead of having to download the hover image the first time the user hovers.
You could also combine all the normal/hover images into one big image like this example (http://nopeople.com/CSS/css%20rollover%20navbar%20with%20single%20image/index.html) that uses this image:
And, if you're still worried about load times, this can all be done with text as well. We use images for menus all the time though, just make sure they are optimized for the web and you should be fine.
