View Full Version : PHP <-> CGI/Perl
Hi,
I started to learn CGI with Perl as I begin with Serverside Programmation. Then I read a bit about PHP and I stopped learning Perl, because PHP seemed to be much more easier and practically.
Since then i did all in PHP and i love it.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Perl and PHP?
Why do you use PHP and not Perl?
Or viceversa?
Saludo

Try this link. It will tell you why PHP is better. :D

Thanks very much.
I found a lot, too.
But what I would like to know is why YOU are using Perl/PHP/ASP or anything else.
:-)
Greetz,

P.D.: Why was this topic moved? Is a discussion about Serverside languages no technology discussion??

Why do I personally use PHP?
Good points about PHP
It's easy to learn/use.
Hosting is cheap!
I do not need to take a class or buy books to learn it. Again, it's cheap!
I have a deep hatred for microsoft.
I like also like perl, but PHP is my favorite. I think it has more flexibility.
I hope this helps. :D

Don't most people? :D
I like PHP because of its ease of use and it makes working with databases quite easy. If you were working with OOP though, Perl is the way to go...until PHP 5 comes out...
