And that you have the sufficent system requirements to run the software. (i.e. CPU speed, ammount of RAM, etc.)

Well no matter what software I am using or if I would leave it running all day or not my computer will eather lockup or give me a message stating that I am low on memory. And the only way to solve the problem is to restart the computer. It is really getting to me!!

This is a problem generally with win98/ME's memory handling, basically it doesn't clear its memory allocation tables as it should so the PC thinks it's using more ram than it actually is.

One solution would be to get more ram, these days 128mb is a bit low, 256-512mb the norm. Also I suggest increasing the virtual memory you're allowing windows (control panel => system, advanced => performance (or something like that)).

Also depending on how old you installation of windows 9x/ME is, that could be contributing to the lockups. How long ago was it when you last re-installed windows?

It has been about 1 1/2 since windows has be re-instaled.
I am also getting a lot of not responding to many programs.

are the programs beta versions? are they linked as one can cause another to stop responding.

look them up and you can google it as some programs stop due to the same problems.
