I have installed but I can't find it. - I am new to UBUNTU.

I installed a clock to my Ubuntu Linux, but I cannot find it. What have I missed?
I need an analogue clock to read. Digital ones are not good for my eyesight. :eek:

Alarm Clock from the offered software option. Not fussy. Any analogue clock will do.

Ok I had a look at the program and it isn't meant to be an analog clock, it's an alarm notifier pretty much....

to start it go to applications->accessories->alarm clock

to have it start automatically in the alarm-clock window go to edit->preference and tick start with GNOME.

what it's use is you enter tiems you dont want to forget and it'll set off alerts at the appropriate times.

frankly frank if you want an analog clock your best bet would be to go with the KDE version of Ubuntu, you can change Ubuntu to the KDE version by running the following command in a terminal...

I have installed Wine to my Ubuntu and I want to use it to run my CS5 Photoshop.
I do not understand how to do this and Googled referals do not click with me. I can get to the stage where I have my C drive on screen.

Where do I go from here? The waters are a trifle muddy!

If you fancy giving KDE a shot, just install Kubuntu instead of regular Ubuntu. In fact, boot up from the Live CD first and see whether you prefer it before committing to an install! (:

Wine is unlikely to allow you to run Photoshop CS5 smoothly. Do you have CS4? On 10.10, it has a Platinum rating in Wine; CS5 only has Bronze.

Wine good but it's nowhere near perfect, basic advice is if you need something to run, you can try wine, and you might be lucky, otherwise you'll probably need windows.

There's always GIMP though too, which IMO is better anyhow and free.

and what do you mean it wont boot into Ubuntu now? all that code did was remove the normal gnome desktop and install KDE, did you not let all the processes finish before closing terminal?(it'd take a few hours to do it, I probably should of warned you about that... sorry). What you end up with though is Kubuntu

Yes, Quite a day yesterday.
The computer just went straight into Windows. The original boot option disappeared..
I have now re-installed ubuntu and got it all working again. I will try kubuntu though. GIMP also will be an interesting project. Never a dull moment. And, my Kindle has just arrived from Amazon.

frank if it was just a bootloader issue you could of reinstalled it rather than the whole OS

remember to alter the hdo to wherever grub is in your case it's probally something like sdb1 or something, just have a look in gparted and note partition name where ubuntu is installed

Ok frank are you using Gnome or KDE now? If you using KDE I don't remember where the option is but..... If your still using Gnome, just go to:

system->preferences-> appearance

under the theme tab click customize then pointer ad simply drag to select the size you want
