Is Adobe Photoshop Worth The Money??gemini2011 05-29-2003, 09:59 PM What do you think? I am thinking of buying it but I know it is very expensive. allida77 05-29-2003, 10:29 PM Depends on what you will be using it for. bradyj 05-29-2003, 11:37 PM That's very true -- I use it quite often... I actually live in it half the time. Compared to other image editors, it is my choice of purchase (next to ProCreate Painter -- but that is a totally different editor for a totally different thing). Are you on a Mac or a PC? Do you want to try the demo version? wox3-iO 05-30-2003, 11:28 AM I really can't say, I didn't pay anything for it :D (It was a gift) oh, and I agree with allida77 mouse 05-30-2003, 11:34 AM Big yes here, I found the earlier versions a bit difficult, but 7 is excellent, only good if you've a reasonably quick system with plenty of ram I'd say. You can always use the Elements to begin with and see whether you like it, or need the extra functionality. ionsurge 05-30-2003, 12:33 PM It is worth it - very much so, and it is a handy tool to have in your reach. Mind you, like all programs, you'll get to a point where you will find that it isn't enough, and you'll need other programs to use along side it - e.g. SoftImage XSI, or the more affordable 3D Studio Max v5. Mind you, you'll get to that stage if you are really serious about graphics design (like me :D). Oh and if you are a student, I believe Adobe will give a student discount, though I have no idea how much of a discount it will be. Have fun, :) MotherNatrsSon 05-31-2003, 01:47 AM Anr the plug-ins that are available for Photoshop do some really cool stuff as well MNS liorean 05-31-2003, 02:35 AM Painter is better for some work, especially colouring and texturing scanned drawings. Fireworks is better for web graphics (especially PNGs), but nothing beats Photoshop for general and professional graphics creation and editing. Sure, other programs have some of its functionality and can replace it for that, but nothing provides the entire package and the ease of use that Photoshop provides. Unless you are into 3d or animated graphics, where you have other tools... CAD programs, for instance, and the ever-present 3D Studio Max. |
