I am beginning to question whether IE 8 for windows recognizes media selectors, e.g.,

the standard downlevel revealed conditional:

<![if gte IE 8]>
<link rel="stylesheet"
type="text/css"
media="screen and (min-width:40em)"
href="css/macOS.css"
title="default" />
<![endif]>

I have also tried:

an adaptation of the above so the page would validate:

<!--[if gte IE 8]><!-->
<link rel="stylesheet"
type="text/css"
media="screen and (min-width:40em)"
href="css/macOS.css"
title="default" />
<!--<![endif]-->

I have also in a test case, just incorporated the raw link without any IE conditional.

In these 3 cases, this link is definitely not accessed. Note that for other Windows browsers and all Mac browsers, the link is successful.

This link (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc351024(VS.85).aspx) talks about a special meta tag in the header; I have incorporated it, with still no success.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

John Love

Never mind .. I found the answer here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc351024%28VS.85%29.aspx). It states "The following CSS3 media query properties are supported in Internet Explorer 9 Beta" and it goes on to list width.

What a bummer.
